Spionkop Game Reserve
12km from Winterton on the R616 towards Ladysmith. It is stocked with
most plains game and the white rhino. There is a self-drive circuit but we strongly recommend their
twice-daily horse rides which takes visitors into the bush among the animals.
Weenen Nature Reserve
Between Colenso and Weenen is the Weenen Biosphere, a nature reserve
stocked with antelope, giraffe, zebra and other game.
White Lions
Camorhi Game Reserve is sitauated close to Bethlehem in the Esyern
Free State is the home of a breeding project for white lions. They have 12 resident white lions of various
ages. One can also see cheeta, wild dog, lynx and a variety of plains game in the reserve.
The future bodes well for game viewing activities in
this area as there are a number of projects in their beginning stages whereby landowners are removing boundary fences to
allow game to roam freely through the entire area.
